The First Blog

So I'm finally going ahead with ‘my first blog’!
All I want to say is how I really enjoyed the first lecture yesterday 4/10 and how interesting it was to listen and debate about remixing data. I feel that getting the balance right with our technological world is an important issue. It’s a question that I myself cannot answer so if anyone thinks they have any comments then fire away! The point is technology can be so useful at times and yet so harmful at others.
Do we as a country use it too much to the point where our children will be going to nursery at the age of 4 and being asked to look at a computer, when they could be outside learning games and drawing pictures?
Are we destroying our social atmosphere by chatting on Facebook instead of having a coffee with a friend?

Have a great week!

  1. i feel we do rely on technology too much nowadays. its true that it can do a lot more then a human can, the world of medicine is a good example of this: measuring things more accurately, analysing blood samples more efficiently etc But on modern aircraft there is no longer any physical link between the pilot and his plane, so if the comp goes wrong he cant do a thing to safe him and the 100s of life's on board.

Facebook is a double edged sword on one hand it makes life a lot easier, i can get up and talk to a friend in Australia on-line and see each other either on cam or photos. This also means i get real time updates rather then a letter which takes ages to send. But alot of teenagers seem to rely on the internet to organise everything and seem to struggle when they cant get hold of Facebook. i know these points have probably been discussed before but i thought id add my two pence worth
