The Teachers Handbook
Having started my 5 minute warm-ups and exercises with the year 7s and 8s I started thinkig that it might be an idea to look at the exercise from a newcomers point of view; this wou.d mean that they wouldn't know how to explain the exercises, what the reason for them is and also which exercises to do with the different age groups. And if I wasn't there to explain all of this, what can?
And that's when I thought that it might be an idea to have a teachers handbook...
The handbook contains information about why I am doing these exercises, all sorts of helpful hints for each year group and of course all the different exercises and warm-ups.
I think that communication is key to the classroom, especially in a special needs class an I think that this teachers handbook could be the ideal thing to have around.

A little taster for you...
A little taster for you...
A focus group is on the horizon, explaining everything about my five minute Occupational Therapy sessions.
So to get all of this up and running I need your help letting me know when you're available; this will be taking place in a lunch break, so please let me know which days suit you best ASAP!

Finding a REAL Inquiry!
After the campus session on Wednesday I have received some confirmation letters to do with my research project which will be coming up in the next few weeks. I wouldn't have realised that my project wouldn't have actually been a good enough inquiry without the campus session explaing how I need some negative feedback as well. I now understand a lot more!
The 3 Boats
I found the 3 boats hugely helpful at our last campus session. The idea of having 3 boats which start completely separately and then join in the water and start to mix the ideas together to then reach one whole boat when all 3 boats come to the end of the race and meet in the dock at the end and having the idea portrayed as a picture as a visual it really helped me to see my 3 ideas and bring them together to help put my plan into practice. I hope you all found it as helpful as I did and if you weren't there on the day then I hope have explained it well enough for you all.

Award title draft
I've had very different ideas about my award title but this is the one that is sticking at the moment...
The award I seek as a result of doing this program is BA (Hons)Professional Practice in the Arts and Special Needs Education

Ethics
I've been looking at ethics and I see a lot of different things when working in a school with young children.
For instance: when working with younger children you need to be weary of the language that you use as a teacher. Adult language might be thought of very differently in a child's eyes and they might hear it completely different.
I have found in the school that I work in now that you have to be very careful about taking pictures/ videos of children and that getting parental cooperation is absolutely necessary and that you need to accept their views if they do not accept to they letter asking for you're approval.
I think confidentiality with parents is very important, when working in a close knit family like a school there are boundries that you have to take into account.
As well as confidentiality with the child when they are talkin to you in confidence, you have to be able to give them you're trust.
Lastly for the time being I think that it is very important to have 'witnesses' to corroborate and to back something as proof and protection without any unjust accusation.
